Who we share it with

  • Service providers that run parts of our business for us under contract: Shopify and our payment processors, our warehouse and fulfillment partner (Flexport), shipping carriers, the subscription, returns, cart, review, customer service and email/text providers named above, and our tax and accounting providers. They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
  • Advertising and analytics partners (Google, Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, ShoutOut, Shopify Collabs), only after you agree to analytics or marketing cookies. These partners may combine what they receive with information from other sites and apps to show you ads.
  • Shopify, which may also use store customer information to improve its services and, through Shopify features such as Shopify Network Intelligence and Shopify Audiences, for advertising, as described in the Shopify Privacy Policy.
  • Others when the law requires it, to protect our rights or our customers' safety, or as part of a sale or merger of our business.

In the past 12 months, we disclosed these categories of personal information to service providers for business purposes: contact details; order and account details; payment details (to payment processors only); messages and reviews; and device and usage details.

We do not sell personal information for money.

Sale and sharing under US state privacy laws

California and several other states treat letting advertising partners collect information on our site, for ads on other sites, as a "sale," "sharing" or "targeted advertising," even when no money changes hands. In the past 12 months, we have sold or shared two categories of personal information with the advertising partners listed above: device and usage details, and advertising and marketing details. In regions where we show our cookie banner, this happens only after you agree to marketing cookies. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

You can opt out at any time:

  • Click Your privacy choices at the bottom of any page.
  • Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. We treat it as an opt-out for that browser.
  • Decline marketing cookies in our banner, or email us.

Opting out does not affect your orders or the emails you signed up for.

Your rights and how to use them

Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and other US states, the EU and the UK), you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we have about you, where it came from, why we use it and who we share it with, and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, unless we must keep it (for example, order records for tax law);
  • stop selling or sharing it, or using it for targeted advertising (see above);
  • in the EU and UK, restrict or object to our use of it, move it to another company, or withdraw consent.

To make a request, email info@sarahssilks.sbs with "Privacy request" in the subject, call or text our customer care team at +1-760-313-6476, or write to us at the address below. We will confirm your request within 10 business days and answer within 45 days (or the time your law allows), after checking it is really you, usually by matching the email address and an order number. You can use an authorized agent; we will ask for proof that you gave them permission.

We will not treat you differently, charge you more or refuse service because you used these rights. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer with "Appeal" in the subject; we will respond within the time your state's law allows, and you may contact your state attorney general if you disagree.

Sign-up discounts (notice of financial incentive)

We sometimes offer a discount code when you sign up for our emails or texts. To get it, you enter your email address or phone number in our sign-up form, and we use it to send you marketing messages as described above. We estimate the value of your contact information to us as roughly equal to the discount offered, based on what we spend to reach new customers and what subscribers typically buy. Signing up is optional. You can withdraw at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any of our emails or replying STOP to our texts, without losing a discount you already used.

Children

We make toys for children, but our website and services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep order, payment and tax records for as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally seven years). We keep account and marketing details until you delete your account or unsubscribe, and customer service messages for up to three years. Cookies last from the end of your visit to two years, depending on the partner.

Security

We use Shopify's secure checkout, limit who on our team can see customer information, and require our service providers to protect it. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise information will never be exposed.

Visitors outside the United States

We are based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the US and other countries. For visitors in the EU and UK, we rely on contract (to fulfill your order), consent (for analytics and marketing cookies and marketing messages), legitimate interests (to run and secure our business) and legal obligation (tax and accounting), and we use standard contractual clauses or similar safeguards for transfers. You may complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes and contact

We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell customers by email or with a notice on the site.
